Dear driver in the centre of Southampton

What were you thinking? Coming from the other side of the road and cutting in front of other cars and a double decker bus so you could park near the bus stop close to the front of ASDA? While said bus was pulling out of the bus stop. You are lucky that the bus wasn't going fast otherwise your car would've been tin canned in a head on crash. I'm not surprised that the bus beeped its horn at you. What made it worse was there was kids in your car so why were you driving like that?

Where did you learn to drive?

No love

I swear to god, parents/people with kids in the backseat are the WORST fucking drivers. They feel the most entitled to act like jackasses because ~omg it's so stressful being a parent. I live in an area with 4 different schools in the vicinity and at least 3 times a week I'll see parents drive through stop signs, speed, not signal, and other shit that wouldn't be tolerated in any other context.

Well, on the one hand, I could see the stress of juggling kids and trying to get places on time. And then distractions in the car (bickering kids) on top of that.

On the other............no. There's no excuse for someone putting their own kids in crazy danger like that, much less every other driver on the road. Circle the block or U-turn. It isn't worth it.

In general, we drivers really do take the whole driving thing for granted, and forget we're operating potentially deadly steel weapons that weigh up to several tons. They're not little things to be weaved in and out of traffic with. You can fucking kill somebody with the thing you're driving. But we forget all of that and get too comfortable with safety features and bad habits that haven't killed us yet by chance. (And the sad part is, if the news is correct, a lot of these newer vehicles aren't fully passing crash tests either, so being careful counts twice as much)

Some days I think every licensed driver should be required to take a vehicle safety course every 1-2 years. Not that you can teach consideration of others, I suppose.

I agree. It's better to arrive somewhere a bit late and in one piece than trying to kill yourself and others trying to get there on time. And it wasn't only the people in the car that could've been killed or injured. There was the bus driver, the passengers, people in the other cars and the people waiting at the bus stop that could've been hit too.

Sometimes I wonder how some people have passed their tests when I see them driving recklessly.
